Banner Lava Cap Closures starting Tuesday Nov 29

The road closure round robin shifts to Banner Lava Cap this coming Tuesday Nov 29.  Be forewarned.  No end date given.

Traffic Update for NID's Banner Cascade Pipeline Project Construction

The final connection of the raw water pipeline on Banner Lava Cap Road at the Elizabeth George Water Treatment Plant will start Tuesday, November 29, at 8:00AM.  Watch for flaggers to route traffic around the work area, and anticipate delays up to 20 minutesPlease consider using an alternate route to avoid driving through the construction zone. 

Following the raw water connection at Banner Lava Cap Road and the Elizabeth George Water Treatment Plant, the final treated water connection and the air release vault will be installed at the intersection of Red Gate Road and Banner Lava Cap Road. Anticipate delays up to 20 minutes while the connection is made, and please consider using an alternate route to avoid driving through the construction zone. 

Pressure testing will continue on the treated water pipeline along Madrone Forest Drive.  When approved, the final treated water connection will be installed.  

During breaks in the winter weather, Teichert crews will continue to work inside the pipe on Wings of Morning Drive grouting the joints and completing minor vault work.  Individual flagging will be set up at these locations with minimal delays expected.

11/21/11 to 12/2/11
Banner Lava Cap Road, between Red Gate Road and E. George WTP:
·        The raw water pipeline pressure test was successful.
·        The final connection of the raw water pipeline on Banner Lava Cap Road at the E. George WTP will start Tuesday, November 29, at 8:00AM.  Watch for flaggers to route traffic around the work area, and anticipate delays up to 20 minutes.
Red Gate Road:
·        Pressure testing continues on the treated water pipeline this week.  When the pipeline is approved, the final treated water connection will be installed at the intersection of Red Gate Road and Banner Lava Cap Road; anticipate delays up to 20 minutes while the connection is made
·        The air release vault will be installed at the corner of Banner Lava Cap Road and Red Gate Road simultaneously as the treated water pipeline connection.
Overland from Madrone Forest Drive to Red Gate Road:
·        Pressure testing will continue on the treated water pipeline.  Final grading and appurtenance installation will continue.
 Madrone Forest Drive:
·        Pressure testing will continue on the treated water pipeline.  When the pipeline is approved, the final treated water connection will be installed off the edge of Madrone Forest Drive.  
Overland between Madrone Forest Drive and the airport:
·        Erosion control and hydroseed has been applied.
Airport and Loma Rica Water Treatment Plant: 
·        Erosion control and hydroseed has been applied.
Lee Lane:  
·        Sand bags will be installed this week to fill in the curb gaps.
·        Erosion control and hydroseed has been applied.
Idaho Maryland Road, between Lee Lane and Banner Lava Cap Road:
·        Restoration work has started and final hydroseed has been applied.
Banner Lava Cap Road, between Idaho Maryland Road and Wings of
Morning Drive:
·        Restoration work has started and final hydroseed has been applied.
Wings of Morning Drive (WOMD):
·        Pipeline work on WOMD has ended for the winter season and the east end of WOMD will be closed for access through the winter.
·        Hansen Bros. will plow and maintain WOMD section through winter.

Traffic Update for NID's Banner Cascade Pipeline Project Construction

Construction activity on Wings of Morning Drive is concluded for this year due to winter weather conditions.  Final erosion control measures and road rock will be installed this week and be continually maintained throughout the winter by NID.  Treated water pipeline installation will be resumed in the spring.  Sesame Street and the west end of Wings of Morning Drive are available for residential use during the break in construction activities.

Construction activities along the rest of the project route are being reviewed for winter weather conditions as well. 

NOTE:  Idaho Maryland construction at Madrone Forest continues week of Nov 7.  They are blocking the road for 20 minutes at a time.  Use alternate routes.   Gracie is also being dug up.  Banner Lava Cap also has construction work.  Good luck finding a way in or out during the day. ;-)

Final pavement installation on Red Dog Cross Road, Lola's Echo Road, and Oak Ridge Road will be underway Tuesday, 11/1 and Wednesday, 11/2.   Expect delays up to twenty minutes during the paving operation.  One lane of traffic will be available until 8:00AM to facilitate access for getting students to school on time.

Construction at Madrone Forest Drive near the Idaho Maryland Road intersection is scheduled to begin Thursday, November 3, weather permitting.  Raw water pipeline installation on the Overland section will connect to the existing pipeline on Madrone Forest Drive, blocking through traffic on Idaho Maryland Road for up to twenty minutes.  The connection is expected to take two to three days to complete.  Watch for signage and flaggers to safely direct traffic through the construction zone.  Please consider using an alternate route to avoid driving through the construction zone. If traveling east of Madrone Forest Drive on Idaho Maryland Road, residents may use Banner Lava Cap Road and Old Tunnel Road to access Brunswick Road.  If weather conditions postpone installation, then it will be rescheduled for the following week.

Construction on Wings of Morning Drive continues this week.  Work finalizing appurtenances and culverts is underway.  Detours will be set up to direct traffic around construction in order to avoid delays.  Treated water pipeline installation to begin this week on the west end of WOMD after the appurtenances are installed, weather permitting.  WOMD area residents will continue using the Sesame Street detour while the treated water pipeline is installed.

Raw water pipeline installation at the intersection of Banner Lava Cap Road and Wings of Morning Drive will begin on Friday, October 21, after 8:00 AM.  Work on this connection is expected to take a few days to complete. Watch for signage and flaggers to safely direct you through the construction zone.  Delays are expected to be up to twenty minutes in duration.  Please plan to leave early for school and work to avoid this construction delay.  Wings of Morning Drive area residents will need to continue using the Sesame Street detour, turning right onto Banner Lava Cap Road to avoid the construction delays.

Construction on NID's Banner Cascade Pipeline project continues on Banner Mountain during good weather conditions between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM.  NID is coordinating vehicle traffic in an effort to help families get to the bus stop and school on time. Therefore, vehicles traveling into town on will have an open lane until 8:00 AM.

Raw water pipeline installation on the Overland section will connect to Madrone Forest Drive near the Idaho Maryland Road intersection on Thursday or Friday this week.  Watch for signage and flaggers to safely direct traffic through the construction zone; expect delays up to twenty minutes.  Please consider using an alternate route to avoid driving through the construction zone. If traveling east of Madrone Forest Drive on Idaho Maryland Road, residents may use Banner Lava Cap Road and Old Tunnel Road to access Brunswick Road.

Wings of Morning Drive area residents will need to continue using the Sesame Street detour as Wings of Morning Drive is closed to through traffic between Clipper Creek Road and the western route to Banner Lava Cap Road. The Sesame Street detour is available with minimal delays.  Please continue to watch for signage and equipment as construction equipment and trucks will continue to enter and exit from both ends of the road.  Turnouts are available along the alignment route allowing for passing residential traffic.
