9/27/11 Traffic Update for NID’s Banner Cascade Pipeline Project Construction

Construction on NID’s Banner Cascade Pipeline project continues on Banner Mountain during good weather conditions between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM.  NID is coordinating vehicle traffic in an effort to help families get to the bus stop and school on time. Therefore, vehicles traveling into town on will have an open lane until 8:00 AM.

Raw water pipeline installation on Red Dog Cross Road continues.  Watch for flaggers to safely direct traffic through the construction zone, and expect delays up to twenty minutes.

Wings of Morning Drive area residents will need to use the Sesame Street detour as Wings of Morning Drive is closed to through traffic between Clipper Creek Road and the western route to Banner Lava Cap Road. The Sesame Street detour is available with minimal delays. Gravel road base installation for the road surface will begin this week in preparation for the rainy season.  Watch for signage and equipment as construction equipment and trucks will continue to enter and exit from both ends of the road.  Turnouts are available along the alignment route allowing for passing residential traffic.

9/26/11 to 10/21/11
Banner Lava Cap Road, between Red Gate Road and E. George WTP:
·        Raw water pipeline installation is completed; testing will start in October.  
·        Final paving to be scheduled after completion of treated water installation on Red Gate Road.
Red Gate Road:
·        Treated water pipeline installation will begin the week of October 10.
·        Final paving to be scheduled after completion of treated water installation. 
Overland from Madrone Forest Drive to Red Gate Road:
·        Restoration work at the creek crossing continues this week.
Madrone Forest Drive: Final cleanup ongoing.  No delays anticipated.
Overland between Madrone Forest Drive and the airport:
·        Additional erosion control and hydroseed has been applied.
Airport and Loma Rica Water Treatment Plant: 
·        Erosion control and hydroseed has been applied.
Lee Lane:  
·        Curb replacement has been postponed due to neighborhood residents’ request; resume date to be determined.
·        Erosion control and hydroseed to be applied this fall.
Idaho Maryland Road, between Lee Lane and Banner Lava Cap Road:
·        Nevada County expects to complete road striping next week.
·        Restoration work and final hydroseed to be scheduled this fall.

Therefore, vehicles travelling into town on will have an open lane until 8:00 AM.

Wings of Morning Drive area residents will need to use the Sesame Street detour as Wings of Morning Drive is closed to through traffic between Clipper Creek Road and the western route to Banner Lava Cap Road. The Sesame Street detour will be available without delays. Watch for signage and equipment.  Construction equipment and trucks will continue to enter and exit Wings of Morning Drive from both ends.  Turnouts are available along the alignment route allowing for passing residential traffic.

Expect minimal delays on Idaho Maryland Road, between Lee Lane and Banner Lava Cap Road.  The crew is backfilling the curbs and one lane will be open to keep traffic flowing; watch for flaggers.
